  • PIM Testing
  • The number of smart phone mobile subscribers has dramatically increased over the years and has caused service providers a major challenge in meeting the new and ever increasing bandwidth requirements. Providers are now pushing site performance to a new levels never seen before through the use of 4G systems, mixed systems, small cell deployment etc. All these new technological enhancements and changes to the broadband modulation schemes help achieve the required increase in network capacity however these changes can make the network more sensitive to PIM.

    PIM is the unwanted mixing of two or more signals where a non-linearity creates additional harmonic signals. If these unwanted signals are strong enough they can drastically degrade the performance of a site causing increased data errors, dropped calls and loss of capacity which effects the overall systems quality. Since PIM issues can limit the coverage area provided by the base station as well as the operator’s capacity to handle voice and data traffic, it is imperative that PIM testing is conducted.

    Todd cable has a dedicated team of highly trained individuals that perform our PIM testing service. We make it a priority to train our technicians and engineers in the latest PIM technology. We are Anritsu PIM master certified and we use the Anritsu MW8211 B for our PIM and Sweep testing services. Upon completion of testing we provide a PDF report with Pass/Fail results based on either your thresholds or the industry standard along with a copy of the trace file. If a failure is encountered we have the ability to perform Distance to Fault measurements and have the capability to pin point the root cause of the issue. We also offer troubleshooting services and can find the source of your PIM issues. Our technicians and engineers are equipped to replace any faulty connectors we identify and have been certified by JMA for connector replacement.

  • Sweep Testing
  • Sweep testing is a main test that looks at how well the impedance is matched across a transmission path. The sweep test is used to verify the characteristics of the cable, the devices or the whole system across a range of frequencies. The sweep test results allow us to verify the workmanship standards of the installation and determines if all components within the path will meet the desired performance specifications.
